i'm in the process of setting up for a stimmie myself, which is quite similar in requirements. i ended up going with a heat bulb, but mainly for veiwing reason, mine's a wooden enclosure so without a light you can't see the snake. mine's, a 10 month old is going straight into a 2ft square enclosure and might upgrade to a 3ft after a few years of growing. UV is still a debate, but some kind of day night cycle is a must IMO and i ten dto agree that a source of UVA is probably benifical for physilogical reasons, some keepers private and commercal agree with this, some don't at the end of the day it's one of those up to you things. hope that helps
