Exclamation Nice little surprise

I came home tonight after work. Did the usual routine of checking on my few rats out in the garage. They needed a top up of food, and as I was reaching in to grab a food dish out of one of the cages, I saw something moving in my peripheral vision, looked over and there's a wee snake sitting there ready to strike. Scared the crap out of me at first, I think I must have scared it too.
I'm not 100% certain what kind of snake it is, but from the brief look I got at it, I'm pretty sure it's a coastal. I was a little preoccupied getting it away from my rats than identifying it, but when I get a chance to get a few shots of it I'll post some. Nice looking snake though

I'm just glad it didn't actually eat any of my rats, it was slender enough to fit through the bars to do so.. so if I'd arrived much later, I could've been down a few.

There's never really been many snakes around my place before, or if there are, it's few and far between.. though I guess now I've got a little colony of rats I might be seeing a few more of them around
