oil based paint's and varnishes you should be careful with exspecialy on a enclosure for your snakes or reptiles it can effect the health of your snake it's like yourself being in a locked up room using chemicals or painting you become light headed and feel sick, so imagine what your putting your snake through...

MDF isn't suggested for an enclosure exspecially because snakes tend to swim and hide under there water bolls, spill the water and then you have instant swell. Bassicly if you want to spend $200 is up to you in the long run but if your a bit handy you can design and build one out of ply and go check your second hand shop's, dump shops for a base, you can build one for under $100. the snake can live confortably in a enclosure half it body size.

This is what I'd do and do do, only use water based products.

I've just built an enclosure for $70 its 900mmLx860.5Hx450W (thats 90cmx86.5cmx45cm) Ply and pine
