The 'skin worms' are Tapeworm, normally spirometra enrecei, a worm that is very common in frogs and skinks/geckos. The snake is an intermediate host for the worm to grow, they get the worm larvae by eating the frogs etc. They pass the eggs which can be passed on to other animals. Also if the snake gets eaten say by a cat, it can be passed on then too. Generally the worms are removed manually by making an incision in the skin and extracting them and also by giving a tapewormer such as Droncit (praziquantel) which will kill any remaning larvae/eggs that are in the snakes system.
