A large cage is fine as long as there are small hides ( caves) in both the heated area (around 30 C) and the cooler area of the cage, although it may be more difficult to monitor the snake. I am not aware of any reaserch measuring the snakes "happiness" in relation to cage size nor height of the cage, but it does seem a bit of a waste of space.
