For a hatchy blonde mac you will be better off keeping it in a small secure plastic tub(click clack) and just run 1 length of the cord under one end. For the heat cord get a 4m 15 watt cord as these dont get too hot and can be used without a thermostat, higher wattage cords can however get too hot without a thermostat.

I tried to see if i could get a 15 watt cord to catch fire by squashing it into a ball and i couldnt even get it to melt plastic. I would still recommend you try to avoid it coiling on itself just to be on the safe side.
