I have fed my snakes before they shed, as often I haven't noticed the eyes or predicted the shed. Once I fed a young MD I have before a shed, and she seemed to struggle to get the slough over the big bulge of the digesting food item (I eventually had to help her), so for the purely mechanical problems it seems to be potentially present to the snake, I tend to just leave them well alone until after they shed now.

There may be other metabolic and other reasons people may have for avoiding (or not) feeding pre shed, this is my experience.
