I don't doubt his abilities. I've been keeping snakes for longer than I can remember - a lot longer than Ryan has been alive and I've only been bitten a couple of times (excluding hatchlings). Fair enough, both times were due to complacency but they still were bites. I have been struck at hundreds of times over the years, mostly when I first remove a snake from its enclosure. It might be because of my age and slowing reflexes, but there are a couple of my snakes that I always will move with my hook before I put my hand in. I think I'm still fast enough to avoid most bites but I've only got pythons and if one of those tags me, I just grab a camera and take a pic. If I had elapids, it would be a different story.

This is only my opinion and because I don't keep vens, this opinion is not based on experience or knowledge. Ryan has far more experience than me when it comes to vens

Ryan, do you ever use anything to assist in handling/catching vens?
