No not a stupid question.

But will let you answer it for yourself.

What is the advantage to the animal to be living in the same enclosure as another animal.

Keep in mind that size difference of two snakes could lead to an expensive meal for one of them, obviously the bigger one.

If one animal gets sick, how are you going to save the other before it is infected.


So with that in mind, the only advantage to keeping two animals in the same enclosure is purely for the person involved. i.e. less cost.
But the disadvatages are pretty steep if things do go wrong.

That is just the risk you have to decide that you are either willing or not willing to take.
