Another trick that I use is not to handle the globe itself directly with your hands. Any oil on your hands passed onto the globe can contribute to blowing. I've found since handling and screwing the globe in with a tea towel or something similar, my globes no longer blow.

This particular technique is also used when inserting new head light globes into your car. Any mechanics out there will confirm this. Insert it with your hands and not even 5 minutes later...Boom, insert with a towel...no probs mate
