Hi emmabbey and welcome to APS.

It sounds like it's possible that your childrens is looking for a girlfriend. Coming into breeding season, snakes that have reached sexual maturity (around 2 in anteresia) in will often switch off their food. Also, cruising around at night can also be another sign that he's a bit randy

If this is the reason for him switching off, then he my not get feeding again for a few months, and this is nothing to worry about, but if he continues not to feed and you get concerned, maybe take him to the vet to check him out.

Good luck!!
