| I'm using a standard basic probe thermostat and turn it off at night.
You don't need to replace the thermostat, there is a knob on the bottom of the ME models to adjust the sensitivity of the magic eye, you could try that, or disable the magic eye (by turning the night time drop adjuster to Zero degrees, which will stop any change in temp) and just plug the thermostat into a timer and set it to turn off at night, on in the morning.
