BHPs, in captivity, can be known to suffer from "fatty liver disease" when they are frequently fed high fat meals as adults. This disease can cause sudden death in adults. BHPs are generally quite relaxed to handle (this can differ from specimen to specimen). The BHPs I have come in contact with sometimes can display aggressive behaviours in the form of hissing, displaying an open mouth and head butting but they seem to rarely bite. If you are mistaken for food it can be a painful experience. If you wash you hands before handling this will almost completely eliminate the chance of this occuring.
