There is no dispute about the taxonomy of Stimsons Pythons - they are all the same species of python, just different localities. There are two subspecies of A.stimsoni - A.s.stimsoni from the coastal areas of WA, and A.s.orientalis from the remainder of their distribution. A locality is the place where the parents of the snakes were originally caught. This has little effect on the actual husbandry and breeding of the snakes, however some localities seem to breed better under certain conditions than others. For instance, a lot of people have far greater success with Alice Springs and MacDonell Ranges animals if they breed them in a communal setting.
