Green Tree seizure

"Aussie" Green Tree Pythons have been talked about a bit lately with keepers guaranteeing stock ect, and now a current thread caught my eye "illegal jags", and in particular, this
Quote:
the situation is more legitamate then the NG GTP that the large mojority of GTP keepers have here.
Does this mean that the majority of GTP's are infact illegal animals and could technically be seized by an appropriate dept? If so, can anyone explain why they are being looked at in a completely different light than all other exotics? Did I also read somewhere recently that there are now dna profiles for "Aussie" animals that differ from those "exotics", there is a whole big can of worms that could be potentially openned here isn't there?
Why can 1 person keep foreign GTP's and another can't keep a Burmese Python (for example)?
