Repti-Bark is a great substrate. Its nice and rough for shedding and provides some cover if they want to bury themselves a bit.

Though I have a Blue Tongue Skink, I have a foam rock background, but since he can climb straight up it (-.-) I have it stuck to the Outside of his glass enclosure
