my spotted lives on red desert sand so when i feed her i remove her from her cage so she doesnt swallow unnecessary sand stuck to a thawed out mouse which can cause compaction etc. I find its easier to clean up any mess in a small feeding container rather than her cage.If she didnt live on sand i would probably still feed her that way as i lke the interaction with her.
