hi, my daughter is also 12 and i have bought her a hatchie coastal carpet python. He is a darling and is sooo placid, feeds well. But the down side for you is that the coastal grow pretty large-but they are like gentle giants! so i dont see why you dont go for one? When i was making my purchase he man said if i wanted a childrens i would have to hold it EVERYDAY or else they become bitey, but coastals you can leave for weeks then come back and they are fine.

I highly recomend coastal, but they are big
