Get rid of that sand. You might not be so lucky next time.

Forget about the 'they live on it in the wild' comments, the fact is they don't live on such LOOSE sand, so don't tend to ingest it like they do if they live the entire time on loose play type sand. As mentioned, they also lick to taste their surroundings.

You now know what can happen on sand, its up to you whether you want to take that risk.
