I do paint my heat globes with engine paint and burn it for 1 hour out of cages also.
it is extra work I know. But in my mind, snake need to have his day and night periods sorted out.

Not only lower temperature is giving him information that winter is on. Short light during the day is also important.

If the heating globe is with out red paint, it is on mostly at night because of cold nights in the winter. That makes difficult for animal sort things out. They have full light all night that way.

I know that some people don't care about this so much and still bread successfully.
But I always use painted globes in cages which are heated by globes.
On top of heating globe I use lighting set on timer to adjust length of lighting during the day period.
