Splitmore's got it in one.

Also remember what I often call "exotic" species for the state of Victoria, like death adders. There are only so many hospitals that stock antivenin for them - the city does, but that's because they are close to Melb Zoo. You'd be best to stick with local species or ones that respond well to tiger snake antivenin IMHO. You're doing the right thing getting a feel for it. No point pretending a bite will never occur
