Get a hook to get him out of his enclosure. Hold the tail end to support him and keep the hook handy to move his head away from you if you feel nervous about him maybe biting you (keep his head higher than his body to make him feel more comfortable) You can also wear some gardening gloves so that if he does bite then you probably won't jerk away and possibly damage his teeth.
If he does manage to bite you, I read on a thread a few days ago that if you blow on them, snakes will let go, but I've never tried it... if you try it, let me know how it goes!
