Snake Taming

Hey everyone i have a 4 month old diamond that is a wonderful snake has never bit me. I just wondering do pythons become tame cause when i handle him he is fine its when i try stroke or pat him he just bolts away. Is it just about time like as he gets older he will get better?. Because i went to the castle hill reptile show and a diamond was on display for everyone to touch and it didnt move on bit.
Does anyone have any advice on the issue or how to get him used to people touching him when handled. hope that all makes sense

Thanks Simon
