I suppose it depends a little bit more on what kind of work you want to do. If you wanted to do a lot of research, then you'd need a Uni degree. But if you wanted to do something like working at a reptile park (such as the Australian Reptile Park in Gosford, NSW), then, and I've asked them, what they really want is a lot of volunteering work and preferably a Tafe course in captive management of animals. < That's not the right course name, but it was something like that.
