If you are building it yourself why don't you go both
Front access is great for smaller snakes but try pulling out a 10 foot from front access doors
I'd go front for now, but build it so it can be modified later for top access if you want
We use to house our coastal in a top access tank and it was as easy as pie to get her out, just recently we changed her to a front access enclosure and getting her out is a bitch. She'll hang on if she's not ready and we always have a mess on the floor from substrate coming out
