That's a great lens. If I may make a suggestion, try altering the aperture (the f-number) to change the depth of field. When you get in close to the animal (as you do in macro photography), your depth of field decreases significantly. If you change to a large f-number (which equals a smaller aperture), your depth of field will increase.
