Reason , they can smell the start of decomposition, and yes I know that snakes will eat road kill ect and yes I also know people who have been defrosting that way for years without a problem. But after seeing a list of bacteria involved in even the early decomposition process it's not a risk I would even consider..................
A list of the bacteria naturally occuring in a healthy, living body might surprise you. I do not however defrost on the bench myself.
