When my female Stimson Python last shed, she did a really bad job at it - The end result was 5 parts of her shed still attached to her.

What I did was,

Get a towel and soak it in luke warm water, then hold the snake in the towel and let him/her move around this will help soften the skin, plus her moving will rub it off - That generally works. I also got a large click clack and placed the towel in there and she was searching around and was rubbing the skin off without even knowing.

The end result all of the skin was off, bar for one section that was left on her head. I was holding her trying to help rub it off with the towel, however that didn't work. There looked to be a dot that was just sitting on her, so I touched it to remove it and the dot of shed stuck to my finger and she moved her head back which caused the rest of the left over shed to come off.

As to what would cause the bad shed, would depend on a couple of things.

1. What is the temperature of the snakes enclosure (hot and cool end)
2. What are the humidity levels in the enclosure?
3. I have read that when a snake has mites, it can cause shedding problems.
