C moore, Slitherin racks are the bees knees in rack systems. They maintain excellent temps, humidity, thermal gradients etc. As has been said they are completely versatile, so have as much heating or as little as you like.

No problems holding correct temps in cooler months etc, use in conjunction with themostats. The gaps you are referring to only occur occationally on some of the larger models. I have multiple hatchie racks never a problem or escapee. Also multiple V35 and V70's also never a problem. The biggest gap I have experienced is in a V70, which could be reduced as someone pointed out, but I have no problems with it. The snakes are not small enough to even come close to getting out and they can not slide a tub drawer in or out, it is impossible. While they can certainly put pressure on the top, bottom or a side by pushing on it, that is not going to slide the tub out from the rack. The gap from the cord to the bottom of the tub is negligable and no signifficant heat loss occurs. Especially since the tubs are effectively heated from the cord underneath them, but also from the one above heating the next rack up. The heated end is always warm and as long as your ambient room temps are cool enough, there is always a significant thermal difference between each end of the tub.

Hope that helps!
Zac.
