In my opinion, it's silly to compare GTPs to womas, roughies or any other pythons on the market. Whether you like them or not, they are the most outstanding (in many ways) species of all and they will ALWAYS be in great demand.
It will take a long time before someone starts consistently producing good quality designer morphs (and be willing to sell any) - they will cost absolute fortune. Just look at the ad no Trading Post - 5 year-old males $12,000.-
Considering the scarcity of native GTPs in collections, they will hold their price for a long time yet.
It seems that many consider the $5,000.- tag to be the "going price". I wonder, how many of those are genuinely bred in Aus and how many are being smuggled in as we speak. I am NOT suggesting that all GTPs sold at that price are sus! However, OPMV and IBD now exists in Aus collections - it didn't evolve here!
