Hey Will, I think the hook needs to be wider/bigger, You want the snake to freely slide over it then you lift it up. You dont want to grab the snake with the actual hook bit. If u made the letter c with your index finger and your thumb i would guess this would be suitable for most snakes. I think that wire is too thin and may damage ,cut snake. Find a local plumber and ask him to bend u up a peice of copper or aluminium gas pipe at say 1/4 or 3/8 of a inch (common sizes) make the length about30 to 50 cm depending on cage depth, then make a small wood handle by getting your Parents to drill a hole in it the same dimensions as the pipe and glue it, Voila expert snake hook,
