As the dominant species we can do what ever we want with the lesser species.There's nothing wrong with a bit of trial and error.
Look at how many species of dogs there are now and they are all descendants from the one breed.
AS for keeping them natural....well that would be leaving them alone in the wild wouldn't it.
It's a bit hard to take the moral high ground when you've got some of god's creatures stuck in a box in your house.
