I have quails as pets. They are very hard to breed as the mother becomes stressed easily and will reject the babies which will die very easily. Live quails are extremely fast runners and can do some damage to your reptile ( one inflicted serious injury on a diamond python owned by a friend of mine). They can also fly( kinda, they arent supposed to be able to) and can cause stress to your reptiles. I would by them pre-killed from a herp shop and would not feed them live.
