If you have a very compatable pair, combat may not be needed. However, I always use 2 males when mating mine.

Two males introduced with a female always gets their attention and stirs on great mating responses. But keep a eye on the boys while they are wrestling. I have never had serious injuries with wrestling BHP's, but there is always a first time.

I also feel that the males wrestling stirs the female into starting her reproductive cycle and greatly increases your chances of successful breedings
