Jeff Hardy has state in email discourse that there is really no problem with taking your animals to your kids school and talking about them.
To be sure I would ring them and explain the situation. If policy interpretation has changed then so be it. I recently took some of my animals to my kids preschool.
They have someone come in once a year and do a reptile show and now the kids are really excited about it.
