soulweaver,
get ceremic sealant from a craft shop (galled glaze, comes in different colours) piain your pots with it then bake it in the oven (time varies from product to product but usually 30mins at 220)

It puts a hard coating on the pot and is waterproof, also doesnt have any fumes etc to harm your reps
