Impaction is a blockage tha prevents your reptile from going to the toilet easily. When the faeces forms a hard stool.
Ricko, I should also mention that I have a problem using BC for any small dragon (eg the Painted Dragons I keep which get around 5-7cm SVL) and other hatchling dragons (eg Water Dragons / Bearded Dragons, etc). This is only a problem at feeding time IF I feed them on the breeders choice. The problem is that if you put a bunch of roaches or crickets in and the dragons don't take them straight away, the insects very quickly bury themselves in the BC and the lizards don't get a feed.
Obviously, I tried feeding them in a separate container on just paper towel, but all the small dragons (especially the Painted and Waters) were incredibly frightened by the actual process of moving them that they wouldn't eat anyway in the separate container.
For this reason I will be using paper towel for beardies / waters hatchies in the future and sand for the Painteds (because they naturally burrow a lot more).
This of course won't be a problem for you if you are only keeping snakes though. Sorry 'bout the long reply, hope this helps.
