Mate, I am in Brissy as well and I have a couple inside that are next to a window. I have the cage siiting with about a quater of it in the sunlight and the rest in the shade of the curtain. It is fine and no probs at all. Just have to make sure there is good ventilation for the cage especially on those hotter days. So it is fair to say that you can set ideal conditions for them inside without heating just follows those points.
