I use a few different types plus they have the option of going uder a good few layers of newspaper as The Rock does and yeah you hardly ever see them except at night.Cardboard boxes don't look tops but they work really well and you can throw them away"no cleaning"
Have you given the choice of a few hides at different spots in your enclosure?
