% salt - in the 2 brands I've used - Barastoc is 0.5% I think, and Riverina Stockfeeds is 1%. They all seem to make the rats & mice drink copious amounts of water, but supplementing with a bit of whole maize seems to reduce the thirst, and the smell. The rodents actually can't "build up" salt in their systems, if they do their kidneys aren't working and they die very quickly, but if they have a highish level of salt in their diet, they do need lots of water to flush it out, thus they piddle a lot, then they smell...
