Hey Col, I specifically built the hide for exactly the purpose of letting the snakes hide in there on a hot day. I tis not a converted drain. Yes, it does fill up with water and that is proving a problem. I think I will simply concrete it. It fills up for a day and then dries out. Alternatively, I can take out the box and just leave it as earth. The lid is just 2" styrofoam with a hole cut in it and a sheet of fibro glued to the top for strength.
