ENCLOUSURE HELP

i have just finished making a enclousure for my first python i am looking at a stimpsons. i have included some pics can someone please tell me do i need to cover the light to avoid burning. also what temp should the tank get to ive wired it all up through a thermostat and directly under the light it gets to about 35 and at the far end your looking at 25ish do i need more heat?? sorry the tank is 500mm wide 1100 long and 400 high. its a bit ordanary because i made it out of an old coffe table any advice would be welcome
