Forgive my ignorance, but what diseases/parasites can snakes get that are that bad they require quarantining for 6-12mths? It seems a very long time. Is this based on experience or just being protective? I know of mites and worms but these are easily fixed aren't they? Or could the individuals being introduced be pre-treated?

Does anyone have a list of diseases that can be caught, what their implications are, how long they take to clear up, and how they are cleared up?
