If you want high levels of UV go for a mercury vapour bulb such as the Aussie Sun from the Herp Shop.

Most Aussie pythons really do not need UV.

Diamonds probably do.

The yellow in diamonds and jungles is said to be "brighter" when they have regular UV but Jungles certainly do not need it.

I would go the halogens for day time basking and leave it at that.

The other plus with the halogens is the range of wattages and spreads which means that you can set up a good basking spot... but be warned I have had some pythons get a burn from being to close to halogens so make sure the basking spot does not get too hot.
