I have one of the purple Oz Moon bulbs-75W, they are a purple colour and to be honest are not very bright at all. I am going to try some of the blue bulbs from Syd reptile supplies as apparently they are a lot brighter. As far as I know they aren't infra red.

The infra-red red bulbs are super bright too as I am told, but there is a bit of thought that maybe some snakes can see a certain spectrum of light from those bulbs as some won't come out at night when they are on.
