any ideas?

I got a fone call from the brother in law yesturday saying there is a snake down at the snake park did i want to come and move it for them, i wasnt in the area so i couldnt but he got a picture of it on his phone, its about 2ft gray body with 10 - 12 1cm black stripes across its back and had a ven looking head ("indented" eyes, unlike a pythons), im on the sunshine coast and have only seen 1 other snake like it... i thought it was some kind of tiger snake, then i was assured it wouldnt have been a tiger snake being the area im in, so what could it have been? i cant post pics as i dont have any way of sending them sorry

and apparently it kept lashing out at him while he was taking photos

p.s. no animals were harmed in the making of this story
