Around 3/4 of mine will feed at any stage of the shedding process, often when their eyes are milky. It doesn't affect them one way or the other and certainly doesn't stress them out, if it did then they wouldn't eat. Don't give them a big meal as it will just make it harder to get the old skin past the lump. If they are due for a feed then feed them, if they refuse it doesn't matter.
