small lumps

hey all. i have a coastal carpet that has been spending a lot of time in his water dish.
fearing he might have mites i checked him all over (not really knowing what to look for) but in process i noticed he has some small lumps in his skin. i read somewhere that this could mean skin worms, if so what do i do?, is there a wormer you can add to water or food?
the lumps are mostly on his neck but do continue down his body a short way.
also was wondering what people use for mite treatment, i was told just to use "top of descent" and spray a small amount into each enclosure once a week (after removing water).
sorry if these Q's have been answered before, i did a quick search but didn't find much info.
p.s. no pics cos am away from home for the next few days due to uni exams.
