A fresh shed is more than 30% longer than the snake itself. If a shed is 9 feet long than the snake could be 6 feet long. If you look at a shed skin you will notice the skin between each scale if visible whereas the skin on the snake is hidden, when you multiply the little bit of skin between each scale you can see how it stretches so much.
