Another trick i have heard of is if you are pretty sure he is still in that room (if you blocked off the doors etc) is to put the mouse in amoung a few plastic bags and turn the lights off.
Sleep in that room and if you are lucky you will hear the rustling of the bags when the snake goes after the mouse.
